A slow Sunday morning of watercolour, noticing and tiny tributes to the places we belong.
We're delighted to welcome local artist Sophia Cosmas to Strange Bird Studio for a special winter workshop exploring the beauty hidden in everyday life.
Together we'll create a collection of small watercolour and ink vignettes inspired by the objects, corners, views and moments that make a place feel like home.
A favourite mug.
A kitchen window.
The plant you've kept alive against all odds.
The view from your front step.
The chair where everyone ends up sitting.
Guided by Sophia's playful and inquisitive approach to art-making, you'll learn how to capture the essence of a subject without getting tangled up in perfection. Through gentle exercises and demonstrations, you'll explore colour mixing, watercolour techniques, working with indelible ink, and ways to simplify what you see into something expressive, personal and uniquely yours.
No experience is necessary.
This workshop is designed for anyone who has ever wanted to paint but worried they weren't "good at art". The focus isn't on creating a perfect likeness. It's on learning to notice, respond and create with curiosity.
Hosted at Strange Bird Studio, we'll spend the morning gathered around the table with records spinning, candles glowing, the fire crackling and endless cups of tea and coffee within arm's reach.
You'll leave with a collection of finished artworks beautifully presented in a vintage frame, ready to hang at home.
Because sometimes the most ordinary things become the most meaningful.
