Come spend a slow Saturday morning at Strange Bird Studio making your very own one-of-a-kind paper lamp.
Each person will have a Japanese-inspired rice paper lamp built and ready to decorate, plus a glorious table full of beautiful washi paper, mulberry paper, coloured and patterned papers and all the bits and pieces you need to make it entirely your own.
Think wonky flowers. Big graphic shapes. Tiny patterns. Colour everywhere. Something restrained and beautiful. Something completely bananas. There are no rules.
I’ll have finished examples and ideas scattered around the studio to get you started, and I’ll be there to help with techniques, composition and any creative wobbles along the way.
Absolutely no art experience is necessary. This is essentially very excellent cutting and sticking with a particularly lovely result.
Come by yourself, come with a friend, or bring your child along to help you make yours. Your booking is for one lamp, so you can work on it solo or make it together.
There’ll be cake, tea, coffee and snacks while we make.
At the end of the morning, you’ll head home with your own hand-decorated lamp, ready to plug in and glow. Keep it for your own home or make it as a very excellent handmade gift for someone else.
YOUR BOOKING INCLUDES:
One rice paper lamp, all decorating materials, use of studio tools, two hours at the Strange Bird table, gentle creative guidance, cake, snacks, tea and coffee.
